I want to record this, even though it happened about a week ago. Our first night in Louisiana, we walked to a fast food place nearby. I had the local paper from our hotel foyer with me. What caught my attention was the quaint style of death notices in there. They were several paragraphs each, often with a photo, more like mini obituaries.
In particular for older persons, it gave details of what family members had "proceeded into death" or "gone before them" including siblings and children, right back to grandparents, as well. Pall bearers for the forthcoming funerals were also listed. Listed times were given when family and friends could call in.
But what I loved the most was for one woman, who had retired at 70 years of age, the list of her hobbies in retirement. One was "porch sitting". She enjoyed porch sitting. I kid you not!!!
